After windows 8.1 install had to remove all entries from device manager for printer, then re-install using lexmark original CD
restart computer, restart printer , restart router.
Set up with USB cable - take PC to printer, to get printing to work.
Then remove USB cable from printer, restart printer.
on device manager go into print queues, lexmark, settings, devices and printer folder, and customise printer, go to ports and change from USB to lexmark 1400 series printer port.
Ensure bi-directional support is clicked, click apply then OK.
Restart computer.
As you can imagine I have no plans to update to Windows 10 as my printer is not compatible with it.
