Mafia 3 Patch Pc

Update October 7, 2016: A Mafia 3 PC patch is in final testing stages at developers Hangar 13, and will unlock the framerate as well as applying “other improvements.”

Hangar 13 even gave a rough release schedule for the patch, saying it should be available this weekend if everything goes to plan. It’s currently undergoing bug-testing and verification, but they do have a working version at their office.

2K Games and Hangar 13 Studios got off to a rough, early start for the PC version of Mafia III. After YouTube star TotalBiscuit revealed the game had a 30fps hard-lock, 2K was put between a rock.

Mafia 3 launches tomorrow, but you can check out our list of upcoming PC games to see farther out.

“We currently have a patch running here at the studio that includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu, among other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III,” reads the statement on Steam. “We’re verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend and thank you for all the feedback!”

Hopefully that means we hear more from them if there are delays, or an early release if nothing negative is found. It’s a shame this had to happen post-release, considering the predictability of complaints regarding framerates, proper mouse support and other elements these days. PC users, particularly those on Steam with access to reviews and refunds, just don’t accept it anymore.

Update October 6, 2016:Hangar 13 have released an official statement regarding Mafia 3’s 30fps cap on PC, saying they’re working on an update to allow it to be unlocked, along with a bunch of other PC-specific options.

In the post, the developers discuss how they were first focused on making sure the game was consistent across all platforms, but they’re now looking to make the PC version as good as it can be.

“We know how important having options that best suit your PC’s performance capabilities are,” says the official post. “The team has been hard at work ensuring that Mafia 3’s performance is consistent across all platforms, and right now the game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second. We are currently working on an update for PC that will give players the option to play Mafia III at higher framerates.”

Apparently we’ll hear about this update “very soon”. Until then, the team says they’re looking for feedback and want PC players to tell them what other adjustment options they want in the game.

“We’re actively considering a number of additional post-launch improvements on PC that would give players more control over how they can tailor the game’s experience to suit their rig’s performance,” it says. “It’s been an incredible journey developing Mafia 3 and we couldn’t be more excited to get the game in your hands and hear what you think!”

Original Story October 6, 2016:It seems Hangar 13’s open-world crime game, Mafia 3, might be locked at 30fps on PC, if pre-release code is anything to go by.

We don’t currently have review code to confirm, but PC Gamer do, and they’ve released a post about the game’s current PC performance.

After receiving code this afternoon, their reviewer says the game felt “sluggish”, so they fired up Fraps and saw that it was running at a locked 30fps with their GTX 970, overclocked i5-6600K, and 16GB of RAM.

They tried to get the frame rate higher by turning the resolution down to 720p and setting the game at its lowest graphical settings, but still the game cruised along at 30fps. We’ve also had this confirmed by another games freelancer who’s reviewing on PC.

Of course, this could be fixed in a day one patch, or perhaps with a game ready driver, but for now that’s how it is. The game unlocks at midnight, so there’s not much time for a fix if one is coming. Perhaps it will unlock along with the retail version. Time will tell.

One angry Steam reviewer has already bashed the game for it’s performance, after 0.1 hours of playtime on record. We’ll update you when we get hold of PC code ourselves.

The original story is below.

For the first time in six years, Mafia fans now have a new entry in the series to play, as Mafia III launches today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. There was some tough news for PC players yesterday, however, when 2K confirmed that the game would be capped at 30 FPS at launch.

Now, 2K has reported back to say it has a patch in the works now that includes 30, 60, and unlimited FPS options from the game's video menu. There are 'other improvements' for the PC version of Mafia III also included in this update.

The update is now in testing. Should everything go to plan, the Mafia III PC patch should go out this weekend. Keep checking back with GameSpot for more on exactly when the patch comes out.

Mafia III is a sequel to 2010's Mafia II. The new game is set in 1968 and stars Vietnam War veteran Lincoln Clay in a story of revenge against the Italian mob. The game takes place in a version of New Orleans called New Bordeaux.
