If Windows can’t find a new driver for your network adapter, visit the PC manufacturer’s website and download the latest network adapter driver from there. If your PC can't connect to the Internet, you'll need to download a driver on a different PC and save it to a USB flash drive so you can install the driver on your PC. If you install a new network adapter driver and your Wi-Fi connection gets worse after that, you can roll back the driver to the previous version. (To learn how, see Fix network connection issues.) The same is true if you already have the latest driver and want to use an older driver version instead.

Automatically identify and update your drivers and software with Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA). This is the easiest method.
Intel DSA identifies your adapter and updates your driver to the latest version, if needed.
Select your operating system, and follow the steps to identify your Intel® Wireless Adapter and driver.

- Locate the task bar in the bottom right corner of your desktop.
- Select the Wireless icon.
- Select Network & Internet settings.
- Select Wi-Fi on the left if not already selected, then select Hardware properties.
- The product is listed in the Description field. Example: Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260.
The Wi-Fi driver version is listed in the Driver version field. Example: 18.11.0.8
After you identify your Intel® Wireless Adapter name and current driver version, Download the Latest Driver.
- Right-click the Start button in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Select Device Manager.
- Click Network Adapters to expand the section. The Intel® Wireless Adapter is listed. Example: Intel® Dual-Band Wireless-AC 8260.
- Right-click the wireless adapter and select Properties.
- Click the Driver tab to see the wireless adapter property sheet.
The Wi-Fi driver version number is listed in the Driver Version field.Property sheet example:
After you identify your Intel® Wireless Adapter name and current driver version, Download the Latest Driver.

- Select the Driver tab. The Wi-Fi driver version is listed in Driver Version field.
After you identify your Intel® Wireless Adapter name and current driver version, Download the Latest Driver.

Note | Updates, patches, or fixes in a new software release may only apply to the software or to certain Intel® Wireless Adapters. When you update the Intel® PROSet/Wireless software package, it might not update the wireless adapter driver if it includes the same driver as the previous release. |
